Pat Dooley Drama Booster Scholarship

 

The Bothell High School Theatre Arts Booster Club offers two scholarships, known as the PAT DOOLEY DRAMA BOOSTER SCHOLARSHIP to theatre arts students attending BHS to specifically be used to further their enrollment in a post-high school education program.

AWARDS

A minimum of two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded and paid directly to the recipient’s selected educational institution. The quantity and value of the scholarships will not be lower than the above stated awards but may be higher based on fundraising efforts in the current school year.

SELECTION PROCESS

A Booster Scholarship Committee (BSC) will conduct adjudication/interviews with all applicants. The committee will be made up of a minimum of three or more of the following individuals: educators, boosters, and volunteers.

Parents with students applying for this scholarship may not be members of the BSC.

CRITERIA

The following requirements must be met to be eligible for the PDDB Scholarship:

  • Senior on track to graduate in June 2024

  • On track to start at post-high school education program by the end of 2024

  • Active Member of Thespian Troupe 6188 (or will be inducted at the end of year banquet) in good standing

  • Full completion of PDDB Scholarship Application form indicating area of study and

    location of post-high school education program.

    • Note: It is NOT a requirement that the area of study be in the performing arts.

  • Personal Statement/Essay (1000 words max). The topic of the essay should convey the importance of your experience with theatre while in high school as well as how you see your relationship to theatre in the future.

  • Prepare a Performance/Presentation piece (similar to I.E. Festival criteria* ) from one of the following areas:

Acting (Monologue)

Musical (Solo)

Costume Design

Costume Construction

Lighting Design

Makeup Design

Scenic Design

Sound Design

Stage Management

Theatre Marketing

Playwriting

Short Animated Film

Short Documentary Film

Short Film

APPLICATION DUE

All applications must be completely filled out by students, include a Personal Statement/Essay (1000 words maximum), and be submitted by 11:59 p.m. May 15th, 2024 to scholarship@bhstheatreartsboosterclub.onmicrosoft.com to be considered.

Adjudication/Interviews will be scheduled during the week of May 20th, 2024
